Different types of pipe fittings
Pipe fittings are a general term for the parts in the pipeline system that play a role in connecting, controlling, changing direction, diverting, sealing, supporting, etc. Pipe fittings include a wide range, common ones include flanges, unions, pipe hoops, ferrules, hose hoops, tees, etc.
According to purpose
- Flange: A part that connects pipes to each other, mainly used for the connection between pipe ends.
- Union: Also called oil joint, it is mainly used to connect matching hardware accessories and can be installed in various pipeline interfaces.
- Pipe clamp: A commonly used accessory in industrial pipeline connections. It is a short section of pipe used to connect two pipes.
- Card sleeve: It is a stainless steel pipe connection piece and is mainly used in mechanical pipe connection systems such as water treatment and municipal water supply systems.
- Hose hoop: It is an ideal connection fastener, suitable for fasteners connecting soft and hard pipes above 30mm, and has a beautiful appearance after assembly.
- Elbow: A type of connecting pipe fitting commonly used in plumbing installations. It is used to connect pipe corners and change the direction of the pipe.
- Bend pipe: Use a complete set of bending molds for bending. No matter what kind of machinery, equipment and pipes, most bends are used.
- Reducer: Also known as large and small heads, it is used to connect two different pipe diameters, and is divided into concentric and eccentric heads.
- Reducing elbow: When making a 90-degree turn, the diameter of the pipe is changed. There are hot-pushed elbows, stamping elbows, and welded elbows.
- Branch pipe stand: a reinforced pipe fitting used for branch pipe connection, replacing the use of reducing tees, reinforcing plates, reinforced pipe sections and other connection types.
- Tee: Tee is a pipe connecting piece, also called pipe fitting tee or tee pipe fitting or tee joint. It is used at the branch pipe of the main pipeline.
- Cross: Used to connect four pipes with the same diameter and the same vertical direction. It is mainly used to divert or change directions.
- Gasket: A material placed between two flat surfaces to enhance the seal, a sealing element placed between tight covers to prevent fluid leakage.
- Raw material tape: a commonly used auxiliary product in plumbing installation, used at pipe joints to enhance the tightness of pipe joints.
- Linen: A commonly used auxiliary product in plumbing installation. It is used to wrap around the threads of pipe fittings to seal and prevent water leakage.
- Blind flange: Also known as blind flange, the real name is blind plate. It is a connection form of flange. It is actually a flange without a hole in the middle.
- Pipe plugs: refer to externally threaded pipe fittings used to block the internal threads at the ends of pipes, including square pipe plugs, hexagonal pipe plugs, etc.
- Head: It is a component of the container, which refers to the element used to close the end of the container to isolate the internal and external media, also called the end cap.
- Welding plugs: Used to protect some parts of the welded parts that need protection or are easily injured or deformed during the welding process.
- Pipe clamp: a pipe fitting used to fix pipelines. It is a pipe fitting commonly used in plumbing installations and is used to fix pipes.
- Valve: a control component in a fluid delivery system, with functions such as cut-off, regulation, diversion, pressure stabilization, flow diversion or overflow pressure relief.

- Clasp: It is the main retainer for removable denture repair. It is made of metal and mainly plays the role of retention, stability and support.
- Tow hook: refers to the hook on the tugboat that is used to hook and hang the tow rope and facilitate release. It can be divided into spring tow hook, hydraulic tow hook, remote control tow hook, etc.
- Lifting ring: It is a type of industrial spreader. It is a device used in lifting machinery to lift heavy objects. Common lifting rings include round lifting rings, pear-shaped rings, etc.
- Brackets: The trusses that support the middle roof truss are called brackets. They generally use parallel chord trusses, and their web members adopt a herringbone system with vertical bars.
According to the connection method
- Welded pipe fittings: Pipe fittings connected to pipes by welding, including elbows, flanges, tees, reducers, heads, etc.
- Threaded pipe fittings: Threaded pipe fittings, commonly used in water and gas pipes, small diameter water pipes, compressed air pipes and low-pressure steam pipes.
- Tube fittings: It is a new type of quick pipe fittings with good sealing performance and can be used repeatedly. It is suitable for pipeline systems of oil, gas and general corrosive media.
- Clamp fittings: used to tighten the connection between pairs of quick connectors, including clamps, quick connectors, silicone sealing gaskets, chuck blind plates, etc.
- Acceptable pipe fittings: a high-pressure pipe connection fitting that is formed by die-forging blanks of round steel or steel ingots and processed by lathes.
- Curved elastic double-melt pipe fittings: pipe fittings with ports that are the same size as the pipes to be connected, and are connected through hot-melt butt welding.
- Adhesive pipe fittings: pipe fittings connected by solvent-based adhesive, such as PVC plastic pipes, etc.
- Rubber ring-connected pipe fittings: composed of a pipe fitting body, a sealing end cover, and a sealing rubber ring.
According to material
- Steel pipe fittings: Cast steel pipes are designed to be thick and heavy and have poor weldability and high carbon content, so the welds require on-site heat treatment.
- Rubber pipe fittings: mainly used for transporting and absorbing liquids and gases in industry, mining, and civil use, including rubber hoses, rubber seals, rubber grouting pipes, etc.
- Cast iron pipe fittings: pipes cast from cast iron, including water supply cast iron pipes, sand centrifugal cast iron straight pipes, drainage cast iron pipes, etc.
- Stainless steel pipe fittings: including stainless steel elbows, stainless steel tees, stainless steel crosses, stainless steel reducers, stainless steel pipe caps, etc.
- Plastic pipe fittings: made of synthetic resin as raw material, added with stabilizers, lubricants, and plasticizers and then extruded. Mainly used as water supply system piping, drainage, exhaust and sewage sanitary pipes, rainwater pipes, wire threading pipes, etc.
- PVC pipe fittings: PVC resin is mixed with stabilizers, lubricants, etc. and then extruded by hot pressing. It can be divided into PVC-U pipes, PVC-M pipes and PVC-O pipes.
- Graphite pipe fittings: refers to the combination of impermeable graphite pipes and pipe fittings. It is mainly used to transport corrosive media without metal ion pollution, and also has good thermal conductivity.
- Forged steel pipe fittings: pipe fittings made by forging. Forging is made by using impact force, including forged steel flanges, forged steel reducers, forged steel tees, etc.
- PPR pipe fittings: including U-shaped pipe clamps, concealed valves, equal-diameter tees, flanges, flange iron rings, pipe plugs, etc. The key connections of PPR are hot melted, which has high plasticity.
- Alloy pipe fittings: made of alloy steel, including alloy tees/crosses, alloy reducers, alloy heads, flanges, etc.
- PE pipe fittings: can be used to connect various soft belts, such as connecting PE pipes, UPVC, steel pipes, etc.
- ABS pipe fittings: Made of resin copolymerized by three monomers: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. It is an engineering plastic with high strength, high impact resistance, high hygienic performance and high anti-aging.
