The difference between a flat welding flange and a butt welding flange
Both flat welding flanges and butt welding flanges are pipe connectors and are important tools for connecting pipes. There are obvious differences between them. Let’s talk about the difference between flat welding flanges and butt welding flanges.
First of all, from a structural point of view, there are four relatively large flat plates and four small edge plates on the surface of the flat welding flange, and there is a small round hole on each edge plate; while the butt welding flange is A relatively large cylinder and thicker than a flat welding flange, with several small round holes on it, which are used for butt welding. Structurally speaking, the flat welding flange is simpler than the butt welding flange, but its strength is relatively low.
Secondly, from the point of view of the installation method, the flat welding flange is directly welded on the pipeline, while the butt welding flange needs a tool to fix it on the pipeline, and then welds on with welding equipment. Since the disassembly of the butt welding flange requires tools, it is more troublesome to install and disassemble; for the flat welding flange, it only needs to be welded with welding equipment, and the installation and disassembly are very convenient.
Third, from the performance point of view, the strength of the flat welding flange is relatively low, while the strength of the butt welding flange is relatively high, so it has a longer service life under high pressure and stronger pressure resistance. Flat welding flanges are suitable for low-pressure pipelines, while butt welding flanges are suitable for medium and high-pressure pipelines.
Finally, in terms of price, the price of the flat welding flange is cheaper than that of the butt welding flange, because its production process is relatively simple, while the price of the butt welding flange is relatively high because its production process is more complicated and requires additional tools for installation and removal and welding equipment for welding.
In short, there are many obvious differences between flat welding flanges and butt welding flanges. From a structural point of view, flat welding flanges are relatively simple, but their strength is relatively low; from the perspective of installation methods, flat welding flanges are relatively simple to install and disassemble. Convenience; from the performance point of view, flat welding flanges are suitable for low-pressure pipelines, while butt welding flanges are suitable for medium and high-pressure pipelines; in terms of price, flat welding flanges are cheaper than butt welding flanges.
