Matters needing attention in the installation process of stainless steel flange

1. In order to prevent intergranular corrosion caused by heating the stainless steel flange cover, the welding current should not be too large. At this time, the current needs to be about 20% smaller than that of the carbon steel electrode, the arc should not be too long, the interlayer should be cooled rapidly, and the weld should be reduced.

2. When welding stainless steel flange pipe fittings, repeated heating will precipitate carbides, thereby reducing corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

3. Stainless steel flange fittings are prone to cracks after welding. If the same type of stainless steel electrode is used for welding, it must be preheated above 300 degrees Celsius and slowly cooled at about 700 degrees Celsius after welding, so as to avoid cracks in the flanged pipe fittings. If the weldment cannot be heat treated after welding, the appropriate stainless steel flange pipe fitting electrode should be selected.

4. In order to improve corrosion resistance and weldability, in the case of stainless steel flanges, the appropriate addition of stable elements such as titanium, niobium, molybdenum, etc. should be added.

When using the same type of stainless steel flange electrode, it should be preheated above 200 degrees Celsius, and tempered at about 800 degrees Celsius after welding.

If the weldment cannot be heat treated, a suitable stainless steel flange pipe fitting electrode should be selected.
