When the flanged ball valve, globe valve, and gate valve are used, they are only fully open or fully closed and are not allowed to be used to adjust the flow, so as to avoid erosion of the sealing surface and accelerated wear. Flanges are easy to obtain, simple to manufacture, low cost, and widely used. However, they have poor rigidity, so they should not be used in chemical process piping systems that require supply and demand, flammability, explosion, and high vacuum, as well as high and extremely hazardous occasions.
